Some Benefits Of Recycling Brother Toner Cartridges To Help Preserve Resources

By Jacob Burgess

People have long been in the habit of using devices for a certain purpose. When that purpose has been achieved they are also in the habit of throwing whatever material is left over into the garbage. This behavior has been difficult to change and is still apparent when people use renewable items like Brother toner cartridges. Many of these unit wind up in landfills each year. However, if people would send them back to be reused, we could save a tremendous amount of resources that currently goes to waste.

This issue is a concern for people who monitor what goes into the landfills. There has been studies that show almost four hundred million of these type of cartridges are either burned in an incinerator or buried under mounds of trash. In other words, over a million a day are destroyed without any hope of reusing them. However, they could be restored and reused for the same purpose they were originally manufactured for.

One of the problems with putting them in landfills is how long it takes for them to degrade. The decomposition process can take about a thousand years under normal circumstances. When they are buried under garbage the process can take well over a thousand years before they decompose.

The main ingredient in the manufacturing process is oil derived from petroleum. In all over three quarts are used for each unit while being built. Oil is a precious resource that is very limited in availability and is expected to be harder to obtain in the years to come. Preserving the old units for reuse saves million of gallons of petroleum every year for other needs.

Land resources are also diverted from other more progressive uses. Setting aside space to build up mountains of garbage will prevent anyone from using that land for other purposes for many generations. Reusing as much material as possible can help control this situation.

Remanufactured devices work just as good as newly manufactured to supply an ink solution. They tend to cost less than a new one, too. Many manufacturers will also pay to have the empty units sent back to them.

There are many things that can continue to serve its original purpose when cleaned up and refilled. Brother toner cartridges are one of these items that can last for a very long time. Not tossing them away helps preserve our environment while conserving its resources.
